Program Educational Objectives

  1. To develop in the graduate the ability to utilize, install, configure, test, operate, maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical systems/circuits in Mechatronics Engineering Technology.
  2.  To develop in the graduate the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into their chosen vocation.
  3.  To develop in the graduate the ability to utilize the principles of science, algebra, trigonometry, statistics and calculus to solve related problems in Mechatronics Engineering Technology.
  4.  To develop in the graduate the understanding of the need to comply with health, safety and environmental considerations and regulations

Student Outcomes

  1. Apply the principles of mathematics and science to identify, define, analyze and solve technical problems encountered in Mechatronics Engineering Technology.
  2. Design and develop Mechatronic Engineering Technology solutions to meet desired needs within realistic economic, environmental, social, ethical, health and safety, manufacturing, and sustainability constraints.
  3.  Apply the knowledge of electrical engineering, electronic engineering, control systems engineering and mechanical engineering within the Mechatronics context.
  4. Apply knowledge of the principles of engineering mechanics, Thermo fluids, fluid power, heat transfer and industrial plant services skills that are demonstrably in demand by the industry relevant to Mechatronics.
  5. Apply critical thinking and logic skills to solve Mechatronic and control problems.
  6. Communicate orally and through writing effectively using the latest techniques and equipment within the field of Mechatronics.
  7. Function competently in a laboratory or workshop setting, operating equipment safely, accurately making and recording measurements, critically examining the data and interpreting the results.
  8. Apply fault finding and maintenance principles to Mechatronics engineering systems using the latest instruments and techniques.
  9. Contribute to Mechatronics project planning and execution with knowledge of appropriate methods, materials, machinery and project planning.
  10. Apply leadership and guidance when organizing activities of self and others as well as contributing to technical solutions in a Mechatronics environment.
  11. Performance of a broad range of skilled applications including requirements to evaluate and analyze systems and to modify and improve current systems.
  12. Maintain standards of professional practice and conduct, uphold and promote ethical behavior and maintain continued professional development through the application of life-long learning techniques
